My experience was a 10 for sure! My partner was always asking why I had the TV so loud? Because my sister works closely with schools to assist children with their hearing aids so I was not a stranger to hearing care. Initially, the changes in my hearing seemed gradual. I noticed I had to listen more intently than I was accustomed to, and eventually, I would turn my head so my good ear could be used. My main concern was the cost, as I had no coverage for hearing-related issues. However, my first impression of them was positive – They thoroughly explained what the process would entail and shared the test results with a detailed explanation. I have been wearing a hearing aid for a few years now and I’ve learned which volume and mode settings work best in different environments, it’s helped me immensely. I discovered that the hum I was hearing wasn’t from high-tension electrical wires—it was tinnitus. I found myself constantly asking my wife to repeat what actors in soft-spoken movies were saying, and she often insisted that I needed to get my hearing checked. The final straw came when I was at a live theater, cupping my ears to hear what others could easily catch.

When I finally had enough, and decided to address my hearing challenges, I sent out a question to hearing specialists about the issues I was facing, for context, I have small ear holes that can’t fit earbuds, Amy Deegan was the only one who too time out of her day to answer me. With this new found information, I booked in to see her and on my first visit I felt secure, like I had finally found the right place for my unusual circumstances. Although hearing aids help most of the time, they are less effective in restaurants or places with a din, but I still appreciate having them and Amy and her team we’re super helpful in my circumstance. To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, you are in good hands at Deegan Hearing. I have experienced other specialists who lack the patience, caring, understanding, and experience that Amy and her team possesses.
