In my early 40s I found myself unable to hear my family or friends in social settings, relying heavily on reading lips, it was a real issue for me, a challenge for sure! Before contacting Deegan Hearing, I was concerned that I would need hearing aids to function in everyday settings. I knew I needed to do something about my hearing when I was watching TV and kept hearing a high-pitched sound. Initially, I assumed it was coming from my old refrigerator. However, when I decided to unplug the refrigerator and still heard the sound, I realized something was up. I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to afford the costs involved with hearing care, I’d never had a problem before. But, upon my first visit, I found everyone to be friendly and accommodating, and everything was explained to me. Have you ever had to turn up the volume on the TV? Well that was me, I was finding myself constantly turning up the TV volume and it made me realize I had a hearing challenge I needed to face. Reflecting on my experience with Deegan Hearing, my first impressions of the clinic were very positive—the place was very clean and the staff extremely friendly. My experience with hearing loss started at the age of 25, having spent 3-4 months dealing with recurring ear infections. After my infections cleared, I noticed my ear felt clogged and my hearing was very muffled. Despite these issues, it took me another 3-4 years to fully acknowledge my hearing loss as I was too embarrassed and distracted by a busy life and new surroundings in Lindsay. In meetings or crowded rooms, I felt lost, and that was when I knew I needed hearing aids. Before reaching out to Deegan Hearing, I had preconceived fears about being in a new town, among new people, and concerns about the costs involved. However since getting my hearing aids, the impact on my life has been immense—I can hear again, and life feels so much better. To anyone who is concerned about their hearing and is considering visiting, I would say, Get them checked. These people are good. 

“Pardon?” It was a common word between myself and my husband, it triggered me to think that maybe something was up with my hearing, which prompted me to have my hearing checked at Deegan Hearing Clinic. I discovered I have a 35 percent loss in one ear! I didn’t have any preconceived fears or concerns before contacting Deegan, I just wanted to get my hearing problems addressed. The staff and clinic in general were very professional and had up-to-date equipment so that was a pleasant sight to see.
